Ideal Weight
So...If I lose what I intend to lose, will I be where I should be from a medical perspective?
Once again, a handy site for future reference:
http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Accoding to this site, my goal weight would put me towards the top end of an ideal weight or a little over my ideal weight. Still, it would be a tremendous goal to get to that point...perhaps when I reach the 50 in 50 goal, I will extend to 60 in 60...but that is definitely putting the cart before the horse...

Milestones...
Obviously, 50 weeks is a long way out and it would prove difficult to stay motivated throughout. I've decided to chop the 50 in 50 into five 10 in 10's with undetermined rewards for hitting each milestone.

Healthy Choices - 3/30
B: Carnation Instant Breakfast (I love a diary based drink!)
B: Apple
S: Few bites of cake, few pita chips, few animal crackers
L: Ceasar Salad (no croutons, little dressing) w/ Cajun Seared Tuna
D: 2 Slices of Tomato Pie
S: 8 oz. Chocolate Milk
Comments: Breakfast OK. Morning snack was due to surprise baby shower thrown for me. I had to eat some of food to be polite...thought I kept it all in check though. Lunch again was good...went to Lunch with my normal crowd and that usually means burgers and fries, but I was able to order healthy without too much guff. Tomato pie was gift from Frickers...no cheese at least! And I was somewhat hungry and tired by the end of the night, so I gave in to a 1/2 glass (for me) of chocolate milk...

Healthy Choices - 3/29
B: Carnation Instant Breakfast
S: Vitamin Water
L: Shanghai Chicken Salad, Multigrain Bread, Water from Cosi
D: Mini Pizza and 12 oz. beer
S: 28 oz. Slurpee
Comments: A few things here. Thought I did well until dinner...met up with a friend at a local bar and this was the best I could do. I usually would go for one or two more beers, but kept myself in check....The pizza was plain...no meat toppings. The Slurpee was a surprise by Carolyn to help with the sore throat...Since I haven't divulged this plan to her at this point, I wasn't going to refuse. I should probably let her know ASAP, but I want to get two weeks under my belt personally before bringing in others to help me. I need to commit to this personally first.

Another good use for this site...
...is to remember links that I will find useful:
http://www.wikihow.com/Drink-More-Water-Everyday.htm
Lots of good tips for drinking more water....I obviously need to do that!
The one funny thing...Going by the author's calculations, I should be drinking 118 oz. of water daily! That is over 7 pint glasses a day! Not sure I drink that much liquid overall in any given day...let alone water.
Maybe future reports should include a water count...I actually have had a lot of water in the past 2 days due to this cold...

Healthy Choices - 3/28, 3/27
Enough of posting about the design deficiencies of blogger. I guess I shouldn't whine about a site that provides this service for free...
Since I decided to get on this game plan, here are my food choices:
Tuesday, 3/27
B: Two Swigs of OJ from carton
B: Apple
L: McDonald's Club Chicken Value Meal w/ Fries and Coke
D: Penne w/ Broccoli in a Roasted Pepper Sauce
S: 6 small TJ oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
Comments: Obviously the Lunch choice was bad...probably because my breakfast choice was not filling at all and I was so hungry by the time lunch came...I need to find a way to keep my hunger in check so that I don't make bad choices...
Wednesday, 3/28
B: Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink (w/ 1% Milk)
B: 4 slices each of pineapple, cantaloupe and a strawberry
L: "Smoke Stack" sandwich (smoked turkey, cheese, lettuce, onion, mustard on roll), Orange, Water (from Genaurdis)
D: Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup / Cheese and Triscuits
S: Vitamin Water
Comments: Thought I did OK today. I admit that I have a desire for dairy that is bad for me. I love the taste and it usually fills me up. I need to find ways to substitute for dairy.
Exercise: I plan on getting back into an exercise routine, but I am fighting a pretty nasty cold right now that leaves me weak and achy. I don't want to push things and make it worse. Hopefully I can get back on that horse next week...

I just started this...
...and I already hate using Blogger. If you folks out in Google land are reading this, you have some major kinks still to work out in this...When I try to sign in from my blog (i.e. click on the "Sign In" button in the upper right hand corner...nothing happens! Extremely frustrating!
So then I go directly to blogger.com and click on sign in and I keep getting bounced to nowhere with no explanation. So now I go to help, where Google happily explains that I should essentially delete all files, cookies, etc, make sure scripting is enabled (it is) and then restart and everything should be good....except it still doesn't work. Extremely frustrating!
So, then I remember that I downloaded Firefox at one point, so I try that....Voila! It works! Why it doesn't work for me with IE6 is still a mystery....I know you guys don't like Microsoft and all, but you gotta play ball with those guys...
Last point of pain...when I go to log in, I started this blog under my gmail account, jfarrlley@gmail.com, while I started another blog that died a quick death 3 years ago with a blogger account, jfarrlley. Here's the rub: It asks me which way to login, the old "blogger" way or the new "google" way. If I choose the new way and type in jfarrlley (my google account), it shouldn't log me in to my old blogger account! Extremely Frustrating!
I apparently need to type in "jfarrlley@gmail.com" into the new login to differentiate new vs. old.
Bottom line: It took me 30 -45 minutes to figure out how to access my own blog....
And I thought Google was going to make the world a better and more happy place...

First Post - The Road to Recovery
Well...I am trying to get this going while I have this great brainstorm...
I am 2 weeks past my 32nd birthday and I just got weighed in at a hefty 236! To be honest, I'm feeling pretty crappy about a lot of things in my life and I can trace 50% of it to health / weight issues.
So, while not entirely an original idea, I came up with a catchy slogan that will lead me towards a goal that will hopefully lead towards some increased happiness in my life...
50 in 50...as in I'm going to lose 50 pounds in 50 weeks. 50 weeks is my 33rd Birthday...which ties in pretty nicely for me...
I don't exactly have it all planned out at this point...something along the lines of eating better and becoming more active, but I need to keep the momentum of this thing going...
The blog is intended for me to record my thoughts / issues on the subject, act as a recording device on progress, and I thought it would be interesting to read when I make it to the end and reach my goal...which is 186 pounds by March 10th...
